About the Performers

Laurence graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2021 with First Class Honours, receiving the Wilfred Hambleton Prize for excellence in clarinet playing.

A versatile musician, Laurence has performed alongside the University of London Symphony Orchestra, as well as professional orchestras Stane Street Sinfonietta, Kidenza, the London Concert Orchestra and Bath Philharmonia. He also made his concerto debut with the Horsham Symphony Orchestra in 2021, playing Jean Françaix’s Clarinet Concerto. Laurence won both the 2020 and 2021 Wilfred Hambleton Clarinet Competition and was also the runner-up in the 2021 Coro Nuovo Sussex Young Musician competition.

Future concerts include a performance in the 2022 International Festival of Kraków Composers in Poland and various other recitals throughout the year.

Oli started the piano at age 9. As a venerable sightreader with a vast repertoire, he has won many local competitions, and received the Alice Dougherty Chaplin Prize for the best final-year undergraduate performance at Royal Holloway.

Comfortable as soloist, accompanist and ensemblist, Oli has played at the Edinburgh Fringe, for masterclasses with Danny Driver, Lindsay Garritson and the late Peter Katin, and performed in the 2019 St Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition semi-final.

A niche in pianistic endurance enabled him to perform a 24-hour recital programme in one sitting, as part of a financial initiative to finish a Performance Masters at the Royal College of Music. Having completed this with Distinction, he is delighted to have returned to the institution as an approved accompanist.

Chichester Cathedral's Lunchtime Concert series is self-supporting, and thrives through the generosity of its audiences. While there is no charge for admission, we suggest a minimum donation of £3 per person, with Gift Aid applied if possible.
